CHS 01/14/10

Hello everyone,

Things have gotten back into the groove and classes are moving full-steam ahead. We’ve added two new students, Grace Richmond and Liam Dearing. Please welcome them both.

Monday, January 18 is a service project day. Though there will be no classes, school begins promptly at 9:00. Students will be participating in one of two opportunities. They will either be at the Adult Care Center on Shenandoah Avenue or the Greenvale School. They will be playing games, reading and interacting with children and adults. We will handle the transportation to and from the sites from CHS. Students can be picked up at CHS by 1:00.

We are at 57% participation in our Annual Appeal. If you have not already done so, please pledge or donate to our Annual Appeal. Tuition only covers 75% of the costs of educating our students. The amount is important, but more important is that 100% of our parents donate. Granting organizations weigh parental giving highly when they consider grants. Please pledge or donate today.

Our Marginal Arts Festival fund raising events are being planned as we speak. You will be asked to volunteer time during the Marginal Arts Festival soon, but in the meantime, we are in need of the following items for the Fat Tuesday event. If you have them and are willing to donate, please let us know.

Glitter
Feathers/Feather Boas
White Christmas lights
Craft pom poms
Battery operated book lights
Christmas tree stands (will be returned, if labeled)

Additionally, we are in need of Fat Tuesday Silent Auction items and food items. Please see the previous email regarding our needs or call Roni. We can use your help to make this a successful fund raising event.

Our affiliated elementary and middle school, Community School, is holding an information session regarding Preschool and Kindergarten on Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 pm at Community School. Child care will be provided (call for a reservation at 540-563-5036). If you know of anyone with a child approaching the preschool or kindergarten age, please pass this information along to them. They can go to www.communityschool.net for more details.

As always, questions, concerns and praise can be directed to the school.
