Math and Science

At Community High we strive to communicate the ideas of math and science in a language students can “latch” on to. This is not, in fact, very difficult. Some of the most basic aims of both math and science — pattern and symmetry, observing and expressing ideas about the world — resonate most naturally with the artist. Further, a strong foundation in both provides a powerful set of tools that is invaluable regardless of a student’s future career path — tools that are essential to be an informed citizen of the modern world. Math and science thus form an integral part of all our student’s education. The courses we offer range from the standard high school curriculum (including math instruction through calculus and beyond and a full compliment of lab science courses) to more eclectic offerings like Math Ideas, a course where student from a variety of backgrounds are exposed to high level mathematical concepts.
