Visual and Performing Arts

While we strive to assist our students in becoming proficient in the artistic media of their choice, the primary goal for our Visual and Performing Arts program is to nurture critical thinking. We see art as a creative PROCESS that enables learners to notice what there is to be noticed, and to become perceptive, reflective, appreciative, culturally aware, and civically engaged. The arts provide the procedural discipline through which a student can improve the quality of his or her thinking. Through literature, visual arts, music, film, and drama the arts can bring every subject to life and turn abstractions into concrete reality.
